Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Seems like all I ever hear these days are politicians attacking public education and low test scores, reading problems and writing problems of our students.

It is VERY strange to me, then, that the powers that be in Washington have decided to cut a program (the National Writing Project) that actually HELPS education

and gives teachers new ideas and ways to make writing an important and integral part of the classroom. Oh yes, let's cut the Writing Project, let's cut Head

Start, let's cut all these programs that really do good, that add to our national security, which is an educated, competitive, and informed citizenry.

I just don't get it.
